Dear Friends,
Regarding to what is said about building IDs
and precomputation, we should note that :
- Precomputation is not against the rules.
So why should we prevent it?
- There are some rules for precomputation.
So not all kind of precomputation is
considered valid. e.g. let's think of a
situation where a team precomputes some
information about every building in a
map. Then there are two possibilities :
* This information is made by hand.
* This information is made by a program
by running just once on an environment
having all map information. the program
does not interact with human while
running and it can generate the desired
output for any map(known or unknown)
successfully.
Certainly, only in the second situation the
precomputation is valid.
We think that as long as the precomputation
is not against the rules, there's no need
to make it harder. Of course, there are many
other ways of finding a unique ID for any
object in the map.
And at last, from another point of view, in
a real disaster situation, it's very logical
if there are some robots reserved somewhere
for urgent situations in the city which have
some information about the city and can use
it to perform a better rescue operation regarding
to specific properties of that city. It is
also important that agents be able to work
properly without precomputed data. This is
what exactly pointed in 2004 rules.
