Dear all,

We understand your concern regarding this. The TC has been discussing the
options we have during the last few weeks and we will come to a decision
today which will hopefully give everyone enough time to prepare.

The point is that we need to make sure we have a competition that will run
in Atlanta and this is the main driver behind any decision we make.

Regards,

Gopal

Dear Saeed and everyone,

Hi,
As Nobel said there are a lot of bugs in new kernel package. 25 days till RS
competition is a short time to fix all bugs. Also teams need enough time to
test
and adopt their code with new package. Remember that we had approximately
one month to test our code with kernel-49.9 in last year competition.
We are waiting for TC to decide about the package that will be used in
RSL2007 ASAP .

P.S Despite a lot of bugs in new kernel, I want to know why ahmad has spent
a lot of time to adopt his code with new kernel before fixing bugs?!

If you have tested your team with the Server50, you will see that after 20
or 30 cycles bugs begin to be seen and what you'll see are mostly some
ambulances trying to load/unload injuries but the server do not accept their
order. So you can still adopt your code, only you can not rely on the final
score because of these bugs.

In addition, channel based communication needs some algorithm adopting
because, you know(?), we have only 10 channels so communication is too
limited (keep in mind also that we should assign two different channels for
each send and receive due to hear limit of each channel). Therefore we must
begin adopting so earlier.

And as I said before, Server50 used in the JapanOpen2007 competitions (you
can not guess how with these bugs :D) and we wanted to participate there.

It seems that teams which have not begin to change their code for the new
server, hope that the committee decides not to use it, but it is unfair in
my opinion. Server50 is released a few month ago and considered to be the
server in RoboCup2007.

I believe that current version bugs are small, just needs the one who know
what is changed from Server49 to 50 and the details of the structure. My
friends and I will try to fix load/unload bug in coming days (a few holidays
in Iran) and inform others about the result.

Really looking forward to hearing the committee's voice.

Best regards,
Ahmad.

Hi everybody,

I sincerely agree with Ahmad's opinion about the bug reports and the
approach for fixing.

Two months went by since the release of 0.50, and many times I check
the bug list on sf.net, few changes could be found except a very small
bug about the 0 channel of channel based communication which is
reported by myself. Almost all of the reported bugs remain what they
are.

Since so many bugs have been reported for long time, I just want to
know why the TC do not release a patch or a beta version for testing
while some reported bugs are very small. And I am also concerned with
the plan of TC.

In addition, the sender of the quoted passage in Ahmad's letter is me.

Nobel Huang
