[robocup-rescue-s] about buildingApexes ()

Hello all
 Is there anybody who can explain a little about
buildingApexes () in librescue ?
I think it must return list of coordinates (Polygon's vertex)
but in librescue it returns Bytes (vector of unsigned char).
When I print any element of Bytes , just some char printed
that they do not have any relation to coordinates.
