It looks like your compiler doesn't like the _XY class, which extends
std::complex (see xy.hxx in the fire simulator). Maybe std::complex
changed in gcc 3.4.
It works fine on my machine using gcc 3.3.1. Perhaps you could install
that version and see if it works.
