*** Announcement before RoboCup-2002 rescue simulation league
******************************************************************

Dear participants of RoboCup-2002 rescue simulation league,

Human Soccer World Cup have started and RoboCup 2002 will be soon.

As a chair of rescue simulation league, I mail *important* announcements
at RoboCup-2002. The detailed information will be handed at reception
desk of rescue simulation league on the venue.

(1) Please check the latest information on Web.

    http://www.robocup2002.org/
      general information on Robocup,

    http://robomec.cs.kobe-u.ac.jp/robocup-rescue/
      contains lists and links of bug-fix version.
      Of course, please check
    http://kiyosu.isc.chubu.ac.jp/robocup/Rescue/note2002.html

    http://www.fun.ac.jp/~ssuzuki/robocupradio/
      is a guide-line for usage of radio communication equipments.
      It restricts usages of cellar phones, wireless LAN and Bluetooth
      of your PCs all leagues (including simulation leagues).

(2) Errata in Game Rules (version 7)

      V=(P + S/Sint) * sqrt(B/Bint)

        "P: number of living civilian agent,"
                             ^^^^^^^^
           is modified to the right one

        "P: number of living agents,".

        Note: Kuwata Viewer has displayed right scores.

(3) hardware environments

    We will prepare 30 machines for the rescue simulation league.
    Specification of each machine is as follows:

    CPU: Pentium 4 1.5GHz
    Memory: 256M
    HD: 60G
    OS: Redhat Linux 7.2 (FTP version)
        additional utilities: gcc-2.95

    The machines will be divided into four groups, three groups for games
    and one group for management and maintenance.

    Q: How many machines can you use at games ?

    A: The number of machines in a group for games will be five or six.
       They will be allocated for kernel, simulators, viewer,
       civilian agents and rescue agents.
       We are planning that you will use at least TWO machines for your
       rescue agents.

    Q: How many machines can you use for debugging ?

    A: Some machines in the group for management and maintenance will
        be assigned for debugging when you don't have games.
        The machines for debugging will be used for all teams.

    Q: Are note PCs available on the venue ?

    A: We also prepare sub-networks for note-PCs that participants
       bring in. We will supply:
       * desks and chairs.
       * hubs and network cables
         (note: They are NOT connected to outside network.)
       * electric supply (100V AC)
       So, you can debug your programs on your computer during
       official game hours on site.

    Q: How about the INTERNET connections ?

    A: We will have an INTERNET connection. But it is mainly for
       management and maintenance. Because of the security reason,
       we will restrict the connection. So, please do NOT expect
       you can use the INTERNET to download programs or utilities
       you need.

Best regards
