                              CALL FOR PAPERS
                      Fourth International Workshop on
     Synthetic Simulation and Robotics to Mitigate Earthquake Disaster
                                (SRMED 2007)
                               July 5th, 2007

OBJECTIVE

   The goal of the Workshop is to provide a forum for discussion and

   exchange of ideas among researchers aiming at the design and

   implementation of simulation and robotic systems to support search and
   rescue operations after catastrophic events in urban environments, in
   particular in post-earthquake scenarios.

TOPICS

   Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):
     * Integration of robotic agents in the simulator
     * Rescue simulator extensions
     * Test field and metric for rescue robotics
     * Rescue robots design
     * Evaluation methodology for rescue systems
     * Autonomy in rescue robots
     * Future development of competitions and standards
     * Experiences with rescue projects

PAPER SUBMISSION

   Please send a PDF file of a full paper within 6 pages (for a long
   paper), or an abstract with 1 page (for a short paper) by e-mail to
   Itsuki Noda (srmed2007_at_m.aist.go.jp).

   The deadline is June 15, 2007.

POSTER PRESENTATION

   All papers are also presented by posters. Accepted authors should make

   posters, and display one poster in the competition field area.

PANEL DISCUSSION

   We also plan to have a panel discussion about topics on rescue-related
   technologies and research issues. If you have topics for the
   discussion, please e-mail to Itsuki Noda (srmed2007_at_m.aist.go.jp) in
   any format.

SCHEDULE

   June 15, 2007 : The other poster is used for panel discussions.
