Opportunity to borrow rescue robotics, sensors, data

This message is for all of you involved with RoboCup Rescue in some form. My
apologies if I have inadvertently sent this to you by mistake. I want to
tell you about a program that allows you to borrow rescue robot equipment,
go to the field with rescue professionals, and learn more.

CRASAR has a cache of _fieldable_ rescue robots and sensors that can be
loaned to researchers, as well as opportunities to take scientists to the
field and collect data on their behalf. I see this as a way for the
community to begin to transfer some of the research to the field and also
become more familiar with the field. While the equipment loan is primarily
for US scientists (we're working on the international front now & equipment
can be borrowed for competitions that take place in North America or that
CRASAR personnel are present at...), the field opportunities and data
collection is open to _everyone_. Our simulators and interfaces to the
fieldable robots are open as well.

To take advantage of this, a member of your organization must attend a
tutorial on rescue robotics that also covers the operation of the equipment
and how to participate. (And what _you_ want from the program!) The next
time the tutorial is being held is at ICRA in New Orleans, Monday, April 26,
2-6pm. I hope you will be able to send one of your team members to the
tutorial.

I urge you to sign up for the tutorial. And if you cannot, please send me
email so I can put you on a list for further updates.

Best wishes on your preparations! (And please accept my sincere apologies if
this email is not of use to you and goes into the spam file.)

Robin
